Amelia has been great helping our 9th grader get organized and manage her workload as she entered high school remotely this year. Amelias patience and vivacious personality made it easy for her and our reluctant & shy teenager to connect. Her personalized approach and creative tips have kept our daughter on track and grow her skills. In my daughters words, shes pretty chill but she makes sure I get stuff done... its a a good balance... We recommend her highly!

Amelia is wonderful with children. She has a positive relationship with my child and makes him feel valued. Also, I always appreciate her book recommendations! I highly recommend Amelia. She is invested in the success of my child, she is dedicated, she is honest, and she wants to be the best educator that she can be.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to do a fun intake assessment to get a sense of their likes, dislikes, strengths, and weaknesses as a student, and I speak with the parent/guardian to figure out their goals for the sessions. Based on that information I am able to create lessons that target the need of the student, be it homework help, skill reinforcement, or something else.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the field of education for over 10 years. I spent a few years working in an inclusive Pre-K classroom, and then moved into the middle school setting when completing my MAT in Secondary Education. In addition to my background with early childhood education and middle school, I have background with elementary aged children, working as a camp counselor, and high school students, working as a Speech and Debate Coach. I have background of tutoring ages between the ages of 8-22.
How did you get started teaching?
Both of my parents are teachers!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many different kinds of students. When working in Pre-K I worked primarily with students who had severe disabilities, and when working in middle school I have worked with both typical and atypical learners as the lead ELA teacher in inclusive classroom settings.
