About

I have twenty years experience teaching English of all kinds - writing for the first several years, and now I'm teaching international students how to speak, read and listen to English. I have a TESOL certificate With Distinction and an additional Certificate in Teaching English Pronunciation. I love to teach the English language - as well as to study it (I've often got my nose in a grammar book!). Teaching suits my nature and history, and I look forward to each new teaching/learning adventure.

I'm always impressed by my student's drive to improve their lives by speaking their best English. With nice English, they are unlimited in their potential to thrive in America, and that's very exciting to me. There's a feeling I get of being connected to a country when I grow fond of (and I ALWAYS have great fondness for my students!) a student from there.

    When working with a forerign language student, I start where they are. I spend time getting to know them because they do most of the talking.  I am patient and love to see progress. I can help with grammar and accent reduction.  

    When helping with writing and editing, I start where the student is by seeing what work is available.  I'll take a good look at what you have and we'll go from there.  If you have a project begun, fine.  If you have not begun a project, I'm happy to start from scratch! I have loads of tricks and tips to get started. I have also helped with artist statements, bios, grant applications and resumes, etc. x

    I have my TESOL Certificate With Distinction and Masters from Boston University in English/Playwriting. I have almost twenty years of teaching experience, eight years of which had been tutoring in a college setting with a large international population with talented musicians who also have to pass Liberal Arts classes.  

    I generally charge $60/hour.
