About
My name is Reet - I'm a computer engineer by trade but I also love teaching students what I know so they can reach their goals with programming. I learned that I have a passion for teaching while completing my undergraduate studies at Boston University's engineering department and being a teaching assistant for the C++ software engineering course. I will be relentless in helping you to learn how to program, and will guide you through the difficulties just as I guided many fellow students in their undergraduate studies.
I'm currently working as a software engineer in industry at Rocket Software where I do full stack development ranging from HTML, CSS and Javascript to low level C programming.

I love the intracacies of solving a programming problem and progressively building a novel approach from the tools that modern languages offer!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student I like to establish what their goals are. The process of teaching will be different for a student looking to learn web development, data science, operating systems development or algorithms.
From there we will construct a curriculum that we both find agreeable and a cadence for lessons so that the student finds the best benefit.
I will construct problem sets for completion in between lessons so that the student can apply what they've learned in their sessions.
If the student is looking for help with a specific class, then I can help them with their assignments and give pointers to help them tackle the problems.
Students will typically find that it's hard to program at first, but with enough spaced repetition, practice and guidance they will gain competence and confidence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a teaching assistant for the Software Engineering in C++ course at Boston University where I led lab sessions to give students practical experience with the language. I graded their tests and homework assignments and held office hours to assist students in debugging their code to fix problems. I am also currently leading Python learning sessions for some of our tech writers at Rocket Software which has given me even more experience in teaching software fundamentals to non technical students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a standard rate of $45/hour for tutoring services. Depending on the number of hours and cadence of lessons we may be able to negotiate a different price.
