About

Hello, my name is Joe.

I am a natural born teacher. I love to learn and I am realizing everyday that I love to teach. My young daughter, age 2, challenges me daily with a million questions and I am truly astonished by how much and how quickly she has learned to fish, cook, clean and read with my assistance. When I see those light bulbs come on in her eyes, I am just happy and thankful.

Teaching my daughter has not been my first experience with teaching. Having attended Unity and Mount Wachusett Community College where I studied Wildlife Conservation, I find myself using what I have learned to teach children and young adults in the Higher Ground Ministry’s church education department. Our department head supplies the foundational teachings, weekly. I adapt the lessons to fit the needs of the students that I serve. After presenting the basic teaching lesson and discussion, students are off to socialize while I then turn my attention to each student individually. I love the opportunity this down time allows me to personally assist each student with understanding. Some of the relationships I am developing will surely last a lifetime.

When tutoring History or any other academic subject I would first pre-read the lesson. Through email I would ask my student to forward any up and coming lesson. I would be prepared and then ask my students to share his or her thoughts about the assignment.

I would give examples, suggestions, quotes, or just brainstorm possibilities that would be a solution to the issue. If uncertainty is still in the air, my student and I would together search the web for various other options until together we agree on the best result that would assure the student success. I also believe that practice makes perfect when writing complex sentences or tackling hard math problems.

Sincerely,

Joe Berube

    Frequently asked questions

I have been a Sunday school teacher and a minister to teens during out Monday night youth group for about years. I have attended Unity and Mount Wachusett Community College where I studied for a degree in Wildlife Conservation where I have had many opportunities in the wildlife field getting experience. Even though wildlife has always been a strong passion of mine, it was actually one of my English professors who encouraged me to consider a career in teaching. Through the time I have gotten to teach at my church I really have grown to love it. For Sunday school, the church gives us a lesson to use with the topic and verses chosen. We have some play to add a verse or example as long as we stay on topic. While when I'm teaching the teenagers I'm given topic and it's up to me to develop the teaching, including verses and examples in a way that stays on topic, clear of just opinion and makes sense. So as a tutor I will be flexible to create a plan that best suits each individual student whether it be along a school made curriculum or if I have to create a lesson myself. Either way I will work with the student to make sure as a team we both succeed.

I have gone to school at Unity and Mount Wachusett Community college for Wildlife degrees and have experience working in the wildlife field.

I have taken many advanced history classes

I will charge $30/hr for the student lessons

Through youth ministries at my church

I have worked with kids between the ages of 7 and 18

The birth of my daughter. I always felt the desire to help teach and mold a mind and I am lucky enough to do so with her.

Tell the teacher about them selves and open the lines of communication that isnt fully academically centered but in a way that builds a relationship between both parties.

is this a person i can trust and will this tutor help or hinder my growth as a student.
