Hello!

I am an experienced teacher shifting my workload primarily to tutoring while I stay home with my young children this school year. Last year, I worked as a learning specialist in a K-8 school and I spent 6 years teaching English in the classroom before that. I am Orton-Gillingham certified, I hold a master’s degree in Education with a focus in reading as well as a certification with the International Dyslexia Association. I’m also a licensed English teacher in Massachusetts. I have extensive experience with reading intervention and executive functioning skill development. I believe that we all have the capacity to learn, and we must honor our neurodiversity. I love watching students have "aha" moments as they push themselves to conquer challenging work.

Depending on the student's particular needs, I will start with an assessment to get a better sense of strengths and areas of opportunity. If a student is struggling with reading, I will put together an age-appropriate assessment based on the five foundational building blocks of reading to determine where the student is struggling. Then, I will focus instruction in that area and use informal assessments to monitor progress, modifying instruction as needed.
I have a master’s degree in Education and reading, Orton-Gillingham certification, CERI certification through the IDA, and MA teaching license in English with an SEI endorsement. In my current position as a learning specialist, I have a variety of responsibilities including reading intervention, social-emotional learning, and executive functioning skill development from students in preschool to 8th grade.
Lessons are typically priced at $70/hr due to my level of experience and education. I am happy to work with families on pricing as needed.
