College Writing Tutor
About
Hello! I hold an MFA in creative writing from UMass Amherst, where I taught two years of college writing to university students. As a college writing instructor, I focused on critical, academic essay writing and more creative approaches to standard essays. At the moment, I tutor a graduate-level student, providing remote, in-depth writing feedback on academic papers and critical reading responses.
Additionally, I hold a B.A. in English writing from DePauw University, and have over a decade of experience writing in professional settings, from advertising to in-house communications.
I love helping people realize their strengths.

How did you get started teaching?
I began my teaching career as a T.A. while in graduate school.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've only worked with college and graduate students, though I would be open to working with high schoolers interested in improving their work prior to college/college admissions.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are going to spend time and money on a tutor, you might as well find someone who can expand your knowledge rather than providing transactional help only.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It's as important to be open and accepting of your strengths as it is of your weaknesses. Knowing your abilities gives you confidence to improve your weak points rather than resisting them.
