About
I am an experienced world language educator. I have a Master of Arts in Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Bachelor of Arts in History with a focus on Latin America. I am a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Alumnus. I have tutored students of all ages, and have taught public school Spanish for five years at the middle and high school levels. I have my teaching license here in Massachusetts for teaching Spanish in grades 5-12. I had a license in Maryland for teaching Spanish grades k-12. I have taught social studies in a Spanish immersion program, as well as Spanish levels one, two, and four. I am comfortable working with students of all ages. I am very flexible to student needs. I have worked with various methods, including immersion, conversation-based, total physical response storytelling, international baccalaureate, and game based learning. I follow the standards of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language in my lesson design and delivery.
I love teaching! When I am able to give students the tools to communicate better and open up more opportunities for themselves, their success is my success. Some of my favorite topics to teach include health, shopping, the work place, and food, as my students find these to be very useful and fun. I love when my students tell me about how they have used their Spanish outside of the classroom.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically students reach out to me by email or by phone. We set up a preliminary session, free of charge, in which we discuss the student's needs, internests, desired schedule, and other logistics. I ask that students bring, where applicable, their textbooks or classroom materials to this initial meeting. Usually we agree on one hour once or twice per week for the student or small group of students. Due to COVID-19, I am doing all of this online via Zoom for now. Once it is safer to do so, I am happy to work with clients in my home or in theirs if desired.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters of Arts in Education; a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature; and a Bachelors of Arts in History, with a focus on Latin America, from the University of Maryland College Park. Currently I am a Spanish teacher at Malden High School. I do tutoring on the weekends and over the summer in addition to my day job.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
