Hello! My name is Adam, I'm an Eagle Scout, a multi-instrumentalist, and a Catholic Christian. I was a Cornell Engineering student for two years because I loved math and disliked writing, but then switched into Religious Studies because it turned out I liked college reading and writing more than college math! It is very important to me that students learn to have a sense of victory when they learn, whether they're struggling and need to learn victory, or whether they are already successful and need to channel their potential- this is as true for math, where there are correct answers, as it is in writing, where there are more complete answers...

Abhishek M. says, "Matt is my son’s ‘Guru’. He’s a brilliant teacher with great tutoring and mentorship skills. My son, who is currently in 10th grade (sophomore), was experiencing challenges to learn Latin and cope up with a demanding syllabus when his Latin teacher at school left 2 months after the start of the school year. His grades started to go downhill and he was demotivated. I’m glad that we found the right help with Matt. From the first tutoring session itself, we saw the revival of my son's interest in learning Latin. To our happiness, my son’s grades improved significantly. Matt's stronghold on the language and his phenomenal experience as an educator have enabled him to flex his teaching strategies with my son to bring the best out of him. I'm grateful to him for not just teaching the subject so well, but motivating my son, kindling the spark in him to excel in life." Read more

Our tutors are all currently students at Harvard University whose specialties are their respective concentrations. We meet our students in Harvard Square and employ a hands on learning process, wherein the tutor and student develop an interpersonal connection. This connection allows for more efficacious tutoring and allows students to understand the material more easily. Further, we employ a Socratic teaching method to spark curiosity and genuine interest in the subject at hand. Our teaching philosophy is best summarized by the words of Educational Philosopher Thomas Carruthers: "A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary." ...

I love teaching! I have a deep knowledge of the language being a native speaker, and I studied and taught Latin and Ancient Greek so I know the origins of the grammar rules and the etimology of the words I graduated with top marks "cum laude" at Liceo Classico Galileo Galilei, an important grammar school in Florence. I worked as a Latin, Italian and ancient Greek tutor for Laudes Association in Rome, and here in Boston both as an Italian tutor for the Department of Liberal Arts of New England Conservatory and as a Math tutor for Codman Academy. I worked both with kids and adults, both in Italy and America Teaching is one of the most fulfillin...

Dr. Briel is a fantastic tutor. He was able to seamlessly weave the crucial elements of Greek grammar together with interesting, engaging readings. My goal with Greek tutoring was to begin to read Patristic sources in the original text, and so he introduced me to them via a wonderful text called "A Patristic Greek Reader," which selects passages of the Church Fathers and presents them with extensive notes and vocabulary. Dr. Briel was able to help me to navigate these notes and aid me in not just understanding the grammar, but in actually reading the text itself. Many of our meetings also contained extensive discussion about the content of the text, which brought the readings to life and sparked interest in further studies in Patristics. Our sessions initially took place in person, and then they transitioned to online and phone-call meetings due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Briel was flexible on all of the dates and in every format, and he was able to accommodate my somewhat erratic schedule. For those just starting Greek and those picking it up after some years, I heartily recommend him for your studies.
