About

I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2016 with a dual degree in Performance, Songwriting and Music Production. I was awarded the Latin American scholarship after my audition to get into Berklee. Prior to my music studies, I got a degree in Business back home in Lima University in Lima-Peru. I have been playing guitar for 20 years and teaching private lessons for about 10 years now. When it comes to guitar lessons the styles I focus on are classical, rock, blues, pop, jazz, folk and fusion. Also teach songwriting, production and mixing.

I enjoy teaching and helping students grow musically. I feel music is not only meant to be reproduce, but also understood, which is what I share every lesson. One of my favorite things is also the fact that I feel that teachers learn as much as the students during the lesson.

I have always loved learning and also teaching my students how to learn. Not everybody learns the same way and I enjoy finding the best possible way for each particular person.

Jaime is an excellent teacher. Ive had many music teachers throughout my music journey and Jaime is really fantastic. He is responsive, punctual, professional, but also listens and observes. Hes incredibly insightful and really focuses on the details that make a huge difference as one learns guitar. Its clear he is a master of his craft, and hes expertly able to articulate this in his teaching. He also goes at a pace that is reasonable, so each lesson and exercise seems manageable and achievable. I highly recommend him as a teacher!

I simply love my lessons with Jaime! Jaime is extremely observant, friendly, and fun, while demanding of me to go to my limits and just slightly beyond my comfort zone. The effect is fantastic: I am learning way more quickly than I had expected and am having a great feeling of success. Thanks Jaime, this is extremely worthwhile!

I’ve been taking lessons with Jaime for several months now, and I can confidently say he’s a fantastic teacher. As a self-taught guitarist with 10-15 years of experience, most of my playing had been unstructured—noodling around and learning occasional songs (only to forget them later). However, I recently decided to elevate my abilities to a more sophisticated level, and that’s when I met Jaime.
Jaime’s teaching approach has been invaluable. He focuses on proper technique, helping to correct my bad habits and show how to stay relaxed while building speed. Additionally, he emphasizes learning new songs by ear and through repetition—the challenging aspects of guitar playing that truly require a professional guide. Even in just a few short months, I’ve noticed significant improvements across the board. From how I hold the guitar, to my warm-up routines and practice structure, everything has evolved.
What sets Jaime apart is his commitment to accountability. Each week, he ensures I continue to progress and refine my skills. I’m confident that sticking with Jaime is the right choice for my musical journey. He’s exactly what I needed to break free from my self-taught rut. If you’re looking to step up your guitar skills, I highly recommend Jaime.

I started taking lessons with Jaime after trying to teach myself guitar for years and after recovering from a bad wrist injury. We’ve worked to correct my technique and shake bad habits over the last year and half. My guitar play has improve so much during this time it’s hard to believe. Also, My wrist no longer gets sore after playing which was a huge barrier to consistent progress for me. Jaime is very knowlegeable and always knows exactly what’s needed to fix a problem or help me progress. Highly recommended 😁

Jaime is an incredible guitar teacher. I am a slow learner, which has led to great frustration with past instructors, but Jaime has been extremely patient with me. Over the past few years we’ve worked together, I’ve seen huge improvement in my foundation and I’ve become more disciplined and passionate about music. If you are looking for a teacher that will push you to exceed your potential and provide a safe environment to make mistakes and grow along the way, Jaime is the right fit. His easy-going attitude during lessons and careful attention to detail has been key to my progress as an artist.

    Frequently asked questions

My first step is to talk to the student, to see what they expect from the lessons. After I realize the level the student is in, we can start moving forward and I develop a specific plan for every single person.

    - I had classic guitar training since a young age - I went to Berklee College of Music for Performance also Contemporary Writing and Music Production.

    Over Skype: - 60 min = 60$ - 50 min = 50$ - 40 min = 40$ I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Same day cancellations are billable.

I started teaching, over 10 years ago, to a friend that asked me for lessons. Loved the experience and have not stopped since then.

I've worked with people of all ages, from kids to adults, also from professional musicians, to busy professionals that just want to learn for fun. I teach guitar lessons, but also music theory independently of the instrument the student plays.

    1. In the music school I work for (Musicians' Playground), I am working a lot and developing guitar programs for people from 6 up to 70 years old. Always focusing in standardizing the way techniques and methods are being taught, but also focusing in personal goals and needs. 2. Recording, Producing and Mixing diverse projects. 3. Playing live in the Boston Area.

I think that, style aside, the most important thing is to try to find a teacher, that is able to transmit the knowledge in the easiest and most effective way possible. At any level (but specially in the early stages) of playing an instrument, the most important thing is to get the basics right, theory and technique. After that, is way easier to start developing everything from there. So find somebody that has this 3 characteristics: - Knowledge - Great ability to explain (knowledge means nothing if you can't put into words, that can be understood but the student) - Patience

    1. What they want to achieve with the guitar. 2. Try to have specific and more generic goals. Short term and long term. 3. How many hours a week you can devote to practice the instrument. 4. How serious do you want to be about the lessons. That is completely up to the student. We could take it as a relaxed hobby or have a more professional approach.
