A Completely Non-boring Tutor!
About
Hey guys! I've had a tutoring business for 10+plus years and have decided to move it online. I have a degree from Vassar College in cognitive science. That's the interdisciplinary study of the mind. Chances are you aren't a cog sci major BUT you might need help out of the variety of subjects I studied under cog sci - computer science, linguistics, psychology, math, neuroscience, robotics, engineering, programming, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, the physics of Einstein....I did a fellowship in bioengineering and bioinformatics for the NSF and taught Unmanned Aerial Systems Synthetic Aperture Radar For MIT. Spent time as an actor. Hired at Vassar College as a Visiting Scientist in the Biology Department. I'm at Tufts University Grad School right now studying Mech Engineering: Human Robot Interaction. Anything having to do with MechE or anything under STEM - I might be able to help. Anything liberal arts related - I might be able to help. Politics = definitely! Projects with Raspberry PI, Arduino and Lego Robots I'm definitely up for. Please don't be intimidated if you're an elementary school student or your knowledge is super basic. I love teaching the basics. I help students understand basic tenets that inform more advanced theories.
I'm really good with kids and those that are neurodivergent (adhd, non-verbal learning disorders, Aspergers, autism, psych issues, etc.). I've taught a lot, directed a bunch of institutes, and crafted curriculum. I know how to inspire success and make it all an interesting narrative. Not just rote facts.
I have a minor in international politics and worked hands-on for several politicians - including Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. I have first hand knowledge of government workings.
I've just signed up here so I've started with a really low rate - take advantage now! I'm also willing to work within your budget so please contact me if you can only afford so much.
I love seeing the lightbulb go on in a client's eyes when they truly, deeply understand a concept.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out how a student likes to learn and what interests them. I also find out if they like other things like reading fiction or non-fiction books - I frequently incorporate them as they make things a little less boring. That is if you like to read. But I can usually find something the student loves to do and incorporate that into the learning process so that things aren't so boring. I like to get an assesment of any special needs before I start as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I'm new here so I'm starting low at $40/hour. If you have special needs, I'm always flexible with my fee....if you'll leave me a review! lol
