Hello! My name is Laura and I am a part time tutor!
I love to help individuals learn and help them overcome any struggles they have in school because I can definately remember those feelings–when something doesn't make sense but being too nervous to ask, when trying really hard but not understanding the class lesson. I'm here to help! I think that together we can gain a better understanding of the subject matter and help you feel more comfortable in learning.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, I would meet with a student either in a public place like a library or in their home at a set scheduled time. For new students, I offer the first session free to see if I would be a good fit to help you. A session usually lasts for about 1 hour and has ranged from homework help to explaining scenarios but is often a mix of both.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Biology in college and have been a tutor in the past for science and math. I have been with students as young as preschool and as old as high school, with a target group so to speak of elementary/junior high.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer the very first session free to see if we would work well together, with me as a good fit for you as a tutor and for you to see how comfortable you are with me. The payment rate is fixed, regardless of changing the subject matter during a session and during the duration of tutoring with you.
Payment in the past has been cash or check, whichever is easier and the price is determined by factors I must consider (gas, time taken, level of expertise, etc). The pay is solely for the time we are together–the session starts when we are ready and ends when the agreed time ends (1 hour, 1.5 hours, etc). There is no pro rating of the time so if we end a few minutes before or after the session length, the payment adheres to the agreed session length.
