About
Teaching is a practice I am very passionate about! Helping students in topics that have shaped my career is something I aim to do for the rest of my life. As an undergraduate student at Michigan State University, I was a teaching assistant for cellular and molecular biology for 18 months where I gave lectures, lead class discussions, and tutored in small group and one-on-one settings. As a graduate student at Boston University School of Medicine, a critical aspect of my program were its teaching components. I had the opportunity to teach medical students in gross anatomy and medical neuroscience in many different capacities, building on my previous skills in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings. During graduate school I created and administered a hands-on lesson about the neuroanatomy and function of the brainstem for first year medical students. Now I am a medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine! Overall, I have an extensive background in teaching within Anatomy, Neurobiology, and the biological sciences. My graduate degree formally qualifies me to teach Anatomy and Neurobiology at undergraduate and professional institutions. Aside from my training however, I just want to enjoy the teaching/learning experience! Teaching is something I love, and I do not aim to do it in a boring manner. I aim to learn about my students and show them the subject matter in a way that works for them.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Definitely think about your learning style and the type of tutoring method you vibe best with. Is it quizzing, is it white board explanations, is it diagrams or flashcards? And then think about how you want each tutoring session formatted.
