What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Hear them sing. Discuss posture and breathing. Discuss vocal technique goals. Warm up, vocally. Student sings a song. Incorporate warm up into the song. Interpretation of lyrics. Musical aspects.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
DMA - completes my doctorate from usc thornton school of music. I toured for ten years as keyboardist/vocalist with Christopher cross. I have sung with the tfc chorus (Boston symphony) for five years.
I have been a mystic and theater teacher for over fifteen years

$100 to $150 per hour.

How did you get started teaching?
I taught acting and musical theater, and directed a couple of productions at the The Lee Strasberg institute in Hollywood
What types of students have you worked with?
Every age from seven years of Age to 70.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a visually challenged student I have been teaching for the past four years. She presented her senior recital via an FB livestream performance and killed it!!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Take a sample lesson to see if you connect with your teacher, and to insure the teacher practices a healthy vocal technique.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do I want? What are my goals? What is my budget? Will I have time to practice and progress? Can I commit to my lesson time each week? Have I done my research on this teacher and is it a good fit, stylistically? Is this teacher able to teach effectively online during COVID, and in general, so I can meet my learning objectives?
