About
I enjoy encouraging young students; having grown up in a large international family and led many school organizations (poetry club, literary magazines) as well as sports teams, I like to share, inspire, and motivate. As a full time professional tutor and writer I also like to win writing competitions and be published - on average I have at least an article a week published.
Since age 10 I have completed over 40 non-fiction books, been translated to Spanish, Norwegian, Portuguese, and German, lectured extensively in North America. I not only interpret history, but engage actively in finding relics and graves, planes and ships from World War II, and in getting soldiers recognition. I inspire and challenge students to get out and investigate history.
For history, social studies, and literature, my focus is 20th century and onwards. As a licensed lawyer my focus is on Torts. For SAT and SSAT training (I was 98th %), I teach Reading and English and the optional writing component. I've passed many different multiple choice formats, from law to professional licenses and have worked out some of the rhythms.
Our whole family conversations growing up revolved around history to make our father who had left Europe for the Americas feel more at home - the TV was thrown out, doorways filled in with shelves and books. I particularly like uncovering the original story, the human angle, bringing history to life.
I hope to work with you and your budding graduates! I meet online, in person, whatever works. I'm based in East Boston and have no problem meeting late or early, weekends and holidays. I am also a parent of an 11th grader.
