Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to hear about their learning experience, in their own words, so they can elucidate areas of strenght and weekness, and impart to me where they would most like to see skillsets improve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
- Foundational experience in AP humanities subjects, scoring a 5/5 in every exam.
- Professional editing experience at an academic publishing house.
- Expertise in editorial criticism.
- Graduated with Honours from prestigious The Courtauld Institute of Art, London where I specialized in History of Art.
- 15 years of professional training in ballet; deep understanding of the positive impact recreational health has on overall wellbeing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$45/hour whether in person or online
How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to support others to inspire mindful learning and creativity. I first began to get experience two years ago while tutoring people in my personal network.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mainly students preparing for secondary school and standardized testing.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A performance of Purcell's King Arthur opera, especially the "Frost Scene" wherein shivering strings and daring chromatic harmonies transformed the stage into a medley of climatic musings and wonder.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is willing to tailor their tutoring styles to suit your needs and goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I recommend students ask themselves what level of expertise they are striving for - be it an exam to ace, a song to learn, or a competitive application - it is important to know the timeframe and level of interest in order to best design a study plan with the tutor.
