I'm a very analytical person, so I help students understand concepts at a very fundamental level by breaking down the material into its smallest parts. I believe as a student you have to understand the underlying facts, assumptions, theories and models of whatever you're studying to truly understand it and be able to apply it.
I love meeting new people and learning how their classroom and teacher work. I get a lot of satisfaction from pointing students in the right direction.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to ask students about their teachers and the teacher's style, the textbooks they're using, and their learning style. I like to review previous units they've studied because learning really builds on what you've already learned. A lot of times, if you haven't mastered the earlier units, then it's difficult to understand the new material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor of arts in economics and political science. I've done two years of AP Biology in high school.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching ESL (English as a second language) in China, teaching to adults. Then I moved to one-on-one tutoring of Chinese teenagers for biology, economics and business studies.
What types of students have you worked with?
Chinese teenagers who are planning to attend or already attending boarding schools in the UK. Also, Chinese adults who mostly work for global companies.
