Dental Student Science Tutor
About
I am a third year dental student at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. I have my bachelors of science in Health Professions with a minor in Business Administration. I also have a masters degree in Medical Sciences. I have been a gross anatomy tutor for 2 years and I am a radiology tutor as well for Tufts. I am also a CPR instructor. I love helping students to take a subject that seems really difficult and break it down into something much more doable. I love seeing my students grow in confidence with the material.
Reviews from dental students:
"[Elizabeth} is thorough. I really like the order and efficiency of the session. Takes her time to explain and repeat as needed with patience."
"Really walks through everything clearly. Has no problem going above and beyond."
"[Elizabeth] simplifies topics for better understanding"
My goal is to help students to feel confident about the material they are learning and help to give them the study skills they need to succeed.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I try to get to know the student in terms of what kind of learner they are (i.e. visual, auditory, kinetic) and use that information to run my sessions in a more efficient way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a third-year dental student at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. I have my bachelor's degree in Health Professions with a minor in Business Administration as well as a master's degree in Medical Sciences. I have taken many upper level biology courses like microbiology, biochemistry, pathology, physiology, histology, neuroscience, neuroanatomy, medical genetics, and gross anatomy. I have also taken several chemistry courses. I am well versed in medical sciences and have been a gross anatomy tutor at a graduate level for two years and am also a radiology tutor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically, I will charge $35 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a substitute teacher for K-12 between college and graduate school and then between graduate school and dental school. My family is full of teachers and I loved getting to be in the classroom to encourage and help students. I loved my gross anatomy course in graduate school and knew I wanted to teach in dental school as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from kindergarten all the way up to a graduate level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Last year, I got to be in the anatomy lab giving group sessions and one on one sessions helping students to sharpen their skills or just to play catch up. The best moments are when a discouraged student works hard in several sessions and ends up getting the grades they need.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say to make sure that the tutor is going to meet you where you are and then encourage you to be your best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think students should assess what questions they have about the material before they come to the tutor. It's much easier to have a roadmap in mind instead of just coming to a session not knowing what you don't know. However, it's totally fine to say "I'm completely lost. Can we start here?"
