I have 15 years of experience tutoring pre-algebra through calculus. I also tutor ACT prep in math and science. I have a degree in engineering from the University of New Orleans and one of the best things I learned is that there is always another way to approach a problem. I use that sentiment frequently when I tutor. Not every student learns the same way and a good tutor can make adjustments to how the material is presented until it clicks for the student. I also focus on understanding why the steps are being done and not just memorizing the process. If a student can't explain to me why the worked a problem the way they did then we still have to review the material.
