About
Hi! My name is Caroline Chenevert and I am currently enrolled as a sophomore at Louisiana State University. I am pursuing a degree in secondary education with a concentration in Spanish.
Graduating from St. Joseph's Academy in 2017, I was able to take 4 years of Spanish, including trips to Spanish speaking countries. Right now, I am enrolled in Spanish culture and literature courses and enjoy practicing every day.
I find that many students have difficulty learning Spanish from native Spanish speakers because they tend to move too quickly, however, I began learning Spanish when I was 14. This makes me a unique tutor for other students because I understand the importance of teaching a foreign language in a way that Native English speakers can easily understand.
Finally, I have been tutoring high school students in Spanish for over 3 years now, and I believe that giving students the right tools and insight helps students grasp the complexities of the Spanish language.
I love working with students and I plan to work as a teacher once I graduate from Louisiana State University in 2021. I am very driven to help students understand Spanish because I believe a fundamental comprehension of Spanish will be important in the United States soon.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first time I tutor a student, I typically ask to see their assignments and vocabulary so I can properly prepare. A normal session can last anywhere from 1-4 hours, depending on what the assignment is or what sort of studying we have to do. I can also make study guides and note cards for students who are struggling.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and I am currently enrolled in Spanish literature and culture classes as it pertains to my degree. Additionally, I've been tutoring middle and high school students for 3 years.
With having English as my native language, I believe that this helps me relate to students who struggle with Spanish because I can easily pick out where the disconnect is between the languages.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40/hour for private tutoring, and 25 for half an hour. Prices vary if I'm tutoring a group of people. I charge anywhere from $10-25 for study guides depending on how much material needs to be included.
I accept both cash and checks.
How did you get started teaching?
I began tutoring in high school when my Spanish instructors noticed that I was ahead in the subject during my senior year. I mainly helped underclassmen at first but then when I began LSU, I was able to help more advanced Spanish students.
What types of students have you worked with?
For the most part, I have worked with students from St. Joseph's Academy, where I graduated from in 2017. However, I am hoping to branch out with Tutors.com so I can gain more experience as a Spanish tutor since I plan to teach once I graduate in 2021.
