About
I have a degree in Education, with certification in Language Arts and Spanish. I've taught 3rd through 8th graders in a variety of subjects, and tutored students aging from kindergarten through college. I am organized, a strong communicator, thorough, experienced, and motivated by your success!
I love helping people learn. I'm passionate about seeing people grow and flourish in their own. Seeing a student experience an "ah-ha!" moment is so fulfilling to me; I love the empowerment of students acquiring and applying new knowledge.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step is to hear from you! I want to know your goals, your strengths, your weaknesses, and what you'd like us to focus on in our time together. From there, we will determine a course of action to help us meet your goals. I'm a big fan of self- assessment and empowering you to continue to set goals and eventually be able to reach them on your own. My biggest goal is to help you achieve your goals and work myself out of a job.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Arts in Middle School Education
Certification in Language Arts and Spanish
Three years of experience in a formal classroom
Five years of experience working as a tutor
Ten years of experience working with elementary, middle, high school, and college-aged students
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
60 minute session = $25
30 minute session = $15
How did you get started teaching?
I have always loved learning and knew from an early age that I wanted to help others learn. My first role as a tutor actually began in early elementary school when I was chosen to help another student learn English. Reading and writing are both enjoyable for me and strong skills of mine, so it seemed natural to focus on Language Arts as my certification area.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ages 5 through college-aged. I've worked with self-motivated high-achievers, students with behavior disorders, students with learning disabilities, and students who really couldn't care less about their academic achievements. Basically, I've worked with a large variety of students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say to go with your gut. Credentials and experience are definitely signification; but personality is important too. You want to work with someone that gets you, will meet you where you're at, and will be driven by your goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think the most important questions are the ones we ask ourselves. I highly recommend reflecting on these questions:
1. What are my goals?
2. What is standing in my way of achieving them?
3. What am I willing to do to make my goals a reality? (Or what do I need to do to make my goals a reality?)
