About
I love to bring an essay to life.
I love connecting with students and feeding their passions while building confidence and competence.
College application essays, homework assignments, creative writing, general proofreading - I love crafting a polished masterpiece together!
Writing has always been an interest of mine, and it has served me well in my career, first as a general education elementary teacher and now as an elementary librarian. I have successfully used my writing skills to excel in all of the standardized tests a modern student must master, as well as tutoring in everything from Ph.D. essay proofing to med school applications to email vibe checks.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Library and Information Science. I have tutored in a variety of subjects from 2011 through now; by and large, much to my delight, the biggest response has been high student interest and satisfaction.
I also have 11 years experience in handwriting, handlettering, cursive and calligraphy - if literal handwriting is on your agenda I would LOVE to assist!
Rate is $35 per hour with a $10 travel fee dependent on location. Please email with any questions - I would love to chat!
My favorite thing is to see a lightbulb go off in a student's head. Tutoring gives such a unique opportunity to hone in and isolate problem areas while discovering and drawing out a student's voice. It is a delight to be a part of that discovery and provide support in some of the most stressful academic challenges in education like college entrance essays, finals, thesis papers, and more.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All successful tutoring and teaching starts with the relationship - so first thing with a new student is to spend some time getting to know each other. We talk interests and learning styles, grows and glows - things they are confident in and anxious about.
Once we have a little connection we are able to dive in. The best way to learn is experience- none more than writing! If we're not working on an existing piece (like a college essay), we will write on the spot so I can see where trouble spots arise and help your student find their voice.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Library and Information Science. I've used my writing skills to pass the myriad of standardized tests used to get into college, masters programs, throughout my education, and extensively within my professional career.
I have tutored on and off since 2011; my favorite was teaching elementary and middle school students English while living in France. The best part of tutoring is seeing the lightbulb come on and watching that confidence grow.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
