About
My name is Andrea Richards. I have been teaching in the elementary school for 27 years. I have been a certified Reading Interventionist since 2005. At that time I was trained in Reading Recovery. My discontinuation rate averages over 80%. I was also trained at The Ohio State University in how to implement Leveled Literacy Intervention developed by Fountas and Pinnell. In addition, I have received Barton Training, and I am currently working on getting my Orton Gillingham Certification to aide with helping even more severe dyslexia needs. In 2022, I successfully completed my IMSE Phonemic Awareness and Comprehension Plus training. I have also led numerous professional developments on the Jan Richardson guided reading and intervention framework for my school. According to the Niche Ratings my school district was recently named the 4th Best School district in the state of Kentucky. In addition, I have created many resources on Teachers Pay Teachers to help other teachers instruct their own students.
I thoroughly enjoy helping my students succeed in reading, but more importantly instill the love of reading in the hearts forever.
