About
My name is Bobbie and I am one of those people who dreamed of teaching from the time I can remember. I would set my stuffed animals up after school and teach them every lesson that I learned in class. I was sure that my stuffed animals were the smartest in town.

As one of the advanced students in class, I would often be paired with struggling students in order to help them learn concepts. For many of my fellow advanced students, they hated this, but I loved it. I couldn't help but get excited about thinking of someone learning something new. That hasn't changed. I pursued a career in education for that very reason. I love helping people realize their potential and discover confidence in newfound abilities.
Teaching is not something I do to earn income, it's something I do because I can't imagine investing my life in any other way. I love seeing concepts come to life. I thrive on "light-bulb" moments. I enjoy helping students at any level achieve far beyond what they thought possible. I desire to inspire.

I have been working in the Math realm for over 15 years. Seeing individuals learn is something that never gets old. It is easy for individuals to feel, "dumb," or "incapable," when it comes to Math, but I've yet to find a student that doesn't leave my classes at least no longer despising math.. (many even say they "like" it...) Often it's just some foundation issues. It's impossible to build a 5 story building when you have major structural gaps.. like missing an entire floor.. or even a few pillars. Once those are put into place, learning happens much faster.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To get started:
- Initial meeting to discuss goals, discover learning styles, determine current level, and any other important information
- Plan for progress is made. My hope is that I can quickly work myself out of a job by seeing each student learn how to learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught elementary through college. My main focus has been Math and ESL, but have had to fill in gaps for others at different times.
