Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with getting to know the student, learning their study habits, and grasping a full understanding of their situation/ why they are struggling so I can figure out how best to help them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently in college and have experience tutoring students for over a year now.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Priceing can be negotiated based on frequency and subject detail.
How did you get started teaching?
I had friends who were struggleing in subjects that I was exceling in. After tutoring them for a while, I started getting messages from their parents to have me help their younger siblings.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have helped students ranging from 3rd grade to 11th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently had the pleasure of hearing the vice president of Indiana State University speak for an assotation I am apart of. I really admired his ability to grasp the attention of the people he was speaking to as well as speak with clarity and confidence.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Dont be afraid to ask teachers for peers they might know. The point is to get the student the best learning experience, and that might be from another teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should ask themselves, what are they struggling with, and how can they solve a problem before asking for help. A tutor is only helpful if the student needs constructive support on a subject that they know they will struggle with even after self evaluation.
