* I am a retired lawyer and college professor. When I practiced law, I wrote and proofread formal letters, memoranda, contracts, handbooks, policies, and briefs. Precision and accuracy were imperative for all my work product.
* As a college professor, I proofread and provided feedback on hundreds of student research papers and other expository writing. In addition, I created an online service for students to submit research papers and dissertations for feedback on all aspects of their writing, from the mechanics of it, to the art of it. My feedback was constructive, detailed, and actionable. I helped writers with their spelling, punctuation, and grammar. I worked with writers to improve or enhance their word choice, clarity, sentence and paragraph structure, pacing, voice, consistency, and paper organization. I also examined and corrected each paper's format and adherence to relevant style guides (e.g., MLA, APA, CMOS, and Bluebook).
* I thoroughly enjoy working with students on their writing. I want to get to know my student so my tutoring is interesting and relevant to the student. I have a great sense of humor. Nothing rewards me more than having a student laugh while we are working on something together or having a student "suddenly" understand a concept.
