What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I invited every student and parent to a free consultation with me. I find out the students needs are in the put together a custom-designed package for their goals. The first session cuz according to the custom designed plan. I always take that first session while working with the student to learn about them personally and to observe and talk to them about their learning style and strategies.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught Kindergarten through College. I spent 12 years as a college English and writing teacher. I created a tutoring company 6 years ago and for four years I was full-time in the Bay area where over 40% of my students not only got into very respectable colleges and universities but also rewarded over 50% scholarships for their four-year undergraduate experience. I also specialize in ACT and SAT prep I have taught elementary and middle School for a combined 8 years. I have taught online as well as one-on-one in person.I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and an English degree in Education and Higher Ed from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have package deal prices or if paid per session $55/hr or if students find another student and prefer to do 2:1 sessions the hourly rate is $35/student.
How did you get started teaching?
I started it and international relations with the business minor and then realize that teaching was my passion so I changed my major well during my undergraduate experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
Primarily gifted and accelerated students to the average C student. My students are usually prepping for college and son start as early as 6th grade Trenton
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Running a contest for an East Coast nutrition organization with West Coast students. The winners won t-shirts and gift certificates from the East Coast which was very fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find me feature who will talk to you about your learning strengths and learning style. The I asked you what your goals are and then sit down and plan out with you you're learning design.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a plan ready to go. Know your strengths and weaknesses so you can share that. also let the teacher know the time frames you are looking at for your goals. For instance, if you know you want to go to a college and the application do dates are November make sure that you are letting the teacher know this.
