About
As a first generation college graduate working on my masters degree in English literature, I have over 10 years of experience in the classroom as a student. I am about to start my 5th semester teaching college level writing. In addition to bringing years of writing and researching experience to the table, I can also bring the patience and kindness that can only be achieved by becoming a mother of two. Currently, I teach expository writing at the college level and I have a passion for helping students become stronger writers. I can help your child build confidence in their writing by offering them the tools they need to improve their writing.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The best way to understand a student is to talk with them and discuss their writing. Once I have an idea of their writing level and interests, it becomes easier to help them achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from college with my bachelors in English and a certificate in primary texts, and a member of the national honor society of leadership and success. I am in the 2nd year of my masters degree program in English and I am working for a graduate certificate in technical writing. I now have 5 semesters of teaching experience.
What types of students have you worked with?
One benefit of teaching at the university is the amount of diverse students I engage with daily.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be ready to work for your goals. I can show you the tools, but in the end it’s your writing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be ready to highlight problem areas that they know they need to improve. This will help the process of learning the areas for improvement for each student.
