Dear Ma’am or Sir,
I am seeking a student teaching position for Spring of 2024. As a 47-year-old mother of four children, reclaiming the title of student has been a joy. I taught high school briefly just after graduating from the University of North Carolina. The following twenty years of my life were spent raising a family. Oddly enough, I feel as though I never stopped teaching.
My involvement in the scholastic lives of my own children has been an education unto itself. I have learned so much about the public school system, how educators respond to a child’s specific needs, and how a child’s path can be irrevocably changed by the influence of a strong teacher. I have, for years, looked forward to giving back. I have a perspective that is far different than that of a twenty-something forging this path, but the aim remains the same. I feel called to help young people find a life of productivity and fulfillment. Curiosity is a gift that can inspire and lead young people to greatness. I will seek to cover the necessary content, while leaving room for imagination.
I appreciate your time and attention, and look forward to this new chapter.
