Ben Vu's Tutoring
About
I am a freshman at Colgate University (Hamilton, New York). However, I will be living in Lawrence at least until the end of 2018.
I was a straight As student from elementary - high school. Furthermore, my brother is in 8th grade, so I am already familiar with middle school curriculum. I also help prep for standardized tests like the ACT and the SAT (SAT Math: 800/800, SAT Verbal/Reading Comprehension: 760/800)
Previously, I taught English to non-english speakers (paid). I also volunteered to teach English overseas.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first try to establish where my student is. This can either be done by giving them a small "test" or by going over past materials with them to see where they need help. Then, I can either assist them in their school curriculum, or challenge them by teaching them more advanced knowledge (i.e 7th grader learning 8th grade material).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a college student. I scored very high in the SAT (1560/1600), with a perfect score in Math. I was also a straight As student in high school.
Previously, I taught English to non-English speakers (overseas, paid). I also volunteerd to teach English overseas.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary and middle school students. I have also tutored those with little to no education at all.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is not only knowledgable, but also fun to learn from.
