Special Needs Tutoring
About
I take pride in the genuine connections I form with my students. While working with learners, I do my best to find the balance of having fun, being engaging, and working hard to reach academic goals.
Working with students is the thing I love most about my job. I currently work as a high school special education teacher, and every day is so different-it is always an adventure! I love problem solving together to work through tough questions or finding new ways to teach materials. We become a team and when we work together, we always get the job done.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would typically want to talk with the parent first to get a little background information on the student. This will help me figure out goals, areas on which to focus, student learning style, preferences, and more. I'd then spend the beginning part of our first session getting to know the student. Making moments of genuine connection first before placing academic demands is hugely beneficial for future learning opportunities.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in education since I was 19 years old. I worked at a math-only learning center for nearly 6 years, where I encountered every type of learner imaginable. During this time, I worked on getting my Master's Degree in Teaching Special Education. I am currently on my 4th year teaching high school students who have the most significant disabilities. This job has taught me patience, compassion, and most importantly not to give up until we find the best possible way to deliver instruction.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students. In my undergraduate studies, I student taught in a Kindergarten classroom. For my student teaching during my Master's program, I worked in a 5th grade special education setting along with the high school setting, in which I have worked for the last 4 years. In addition to my schooling, at the math center I worked with high-achieving students looking for enrichment as well as students needing remediation and everything in between.
