About
Learning should be enjoyable to each student. My goal is to not only help students become more proficient in a subject, but also appreciate the topic and how it has meaning in their individual lives. Since earning my California Teaching Credential in 2003, my passion is instilling the love of learning in each child I encounter.
Meeting new people of all ages and making common connections. Reaching just one person can make all the difference for both of us. I especially strive to connect learning to the Arts, Literature, Play Acting and the Sciences.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know a new student one-on-one. This entails quick games, talks about what is important to each student, discussions about the subject(s) the student may be struggling with and sharing with each other why the school subjects are pertinent in their everyday lives.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Teaching Credential from California State University. I have a B.A. from University of California, Irvine that involved courses regarding Early Childhood Development. I was employed as a Substitute Teacher for Orange Unified School Distrct where I enjoyed moving from school to school and meeting a wonderful variety of students, educators and learning about new cultures. I have retired to Lafayette and enjoy my life as a nanny and tutor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Grades K to 6. Hourly $15.00 - weekends and evenings available at this time.
How did you get started teaching?
Wishing to open up children’s minds to many new worlds and interests, as my elementary school teachers did for me. Capturing that love of learning about things I never knew were out there. If a student can relate the learning to familiar things and interests, they can see the potential to expand their thinking and lives. Creating stepping stones to new horizons. The more they are exposed to, the more young people can relate to and embrace the world around them. This is what led me to teaching.
