About

Understanding a student's learning style is the best way to know how to approach their needs. Once that connection is made, students can feel undertood and appreciated. I want to create an environment where students can learn in a safe space and explore various learning styles to find the one that best fits them.

I majored in English and creative writing in my undergrad and I'm currently working toward my master's in educational psychology. I love writing and I love seeing ideas come to life through words. Seeing a student work through their imagination and bring their story to life is amazing. I aim to help them on their journey and encourage them to see the beauty of writing.

Frequently asked questions

I want to build rapport from the start and continue that relationship throughout my time with a student and parent(s). I want to get to know each student (likes/dislikes, what they want to be when they grow up, etc.), and I will volunteer information about myself as well to build that personal relationship. I will also ask the goals the student has with these tutoring sessions (preparing for a final paper/exam, boosting their understanding of a topic), and how long/how many hours they want to dedicate to this work. I will also explain how these tutoring sessions will work. From there, I can develop a plan of action and a list of resources individualized to the student.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and creative writing from Purdue University in 2019. I'm currenlty working toward my Master of Science in educational psychology where I'm learning about working with diverse learners and other cultures, learning theories, and eventually I will learn about cognitive development, behavior, and neuropsychology.

I charge $20/hour for lessons, $10/half hour

Students should feel comfortable and understood by their teacher. The teacher-student relationship should be strong and respectful. When looking for a tutor in a specified subject, look for someone that can you can connect with. If there's no connection, then learning will be more difficult, and I would suggest looking for a new tutor in that case.

Students should determine what the purpose of this tutoring is (preparing for an exam, final paper, honing skills in a particular subject, etc.) and relay that to the tutor. Students should ask how they can get in contact with their tutor. Students should ask what to do if they aren't getting a subject.
