Organic Chemistry Tutoring
About
Hi! My name is "Olivia" and I have been tutoring in Organic Chemistry for the past 3 years. I began tutoring my friends while in the course myself, quickly learned that I have a passion for teaching, and have been a chemistry department tutor for Indiana University for the past 2.5 years. I have tutored over 25 students, all who have not only passed the course but received high As and Bs.
My teaching style is very immersive, full of real life examples to help make the material relevant. Chemistry does not have to be hard- it can be made a fun puzzle with the right guidance! Hope I can help you master the class.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I begin with asking YOU what you know about a certain topic, as to not repeat things you are already comfortabe with. My lessons are supplemental mixed with lecture-style depending on how much help you need. I ask frequent follow up questions to assure you are up to speed with the topic at hand.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a chemistry department listed tutor for 3 years through the Indiana University Chemsitry department.
I have also assistant-instructed collegiate-level Organic Chemistry courses over multiplle semesters.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $25 per hour. If your questions are answered at or before the 30- minute mark, you will only be charged at 1/2 the price.
How did you get started teaching?
I began helping my friends with Organic Chemistry while we were in the course. I quickly found how much I enjoy teaching and helping others have that "lightbulb" moment.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both students who just want their answers checked and feel comfortable with the material all the way to students who are failing the course and need last minute help. Either way, your approach will be unique to you and your needs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do not be afraid to try multiple tutors out for one subject! One session with them does not mean you are tied to that tutor forever. Find someone who's personality matches yours as well as someone who teaches to your learning style.
