am a certified high school teacher with a strong background in U.S. history, civics, and English language arts (I've written a couple of books too!). I currently teach Dual Credit U.S. History and English, which require college-level reading, writing, and analytical skills. My training focuses on helping students read complex texts, write clearly, and think critically.

Teaching & Tutoring Experience

I have several years of experience working with students in grades 10–12 in both classroom and tutoring settings. I’ve taught large classes, small groups, and provided one-on-one academic support. As a tutor, I help students strengthen reading comprehension, improve writing and organization, prepare for exams, and build confidence with challenging material.

Instructional Approach

My tutoring style is straightforward and supportive. I break skills into clear steps, model expectations, and guide students toward independence. I focus on practical strategies—how to read a passage, how to organize an argument, and how to approach assessments—so students can apply what they learn beyond our sessions.

Student Context

I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, from students who need skill reinforcement to high-achieving students pursuing college credit. My experience in college-aligned courses allows me to help students meet higher academic expectations while staying approachable and encouraging.

Why I’m Effective as a Tutor

I understand both the content and the classroom expectations students are navigating. My goal is always to make learning feel manageable, build confidence, and help students develop skills they can use independently.
