Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a free consultation and free diagnostic assessment. After the free consultation, we can compare schedules to find a time that works for both the student and I.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
5 years of practical one-on-one tutoring for students with a variety of ages and needs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Reading lessons are currently $35 per session. It is essential for learning, especially for those that have learning difficulties, that students have consistency, so we suggest three to four lessons per week and have a minimum requirement of two lessons per week. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, or call us if we can help you in any way.
How did you get started teaching?
I was home-schooled through middle school and high school. I became interested in helping dyslexic students because my younger brother struggled with learning to read for many years. He was such a smart and amazing kid, it was hard to see him work for hours and hours each day and make very little progress. I started helping my mom with his instruction when she would get frustrated while I was a high-schooler. In 2013 he was finally diagnosed with dyslexia. I was eager to continue to help and I took over as his primary reading teacher. After much determination and hard work, I completed his therapy as a fluent reader in 2015. He graduated high school in 2019 and read such books as The Illiad, The Count of Monte Cristo, Moby Dick, and Dante's Divine Comedy.
What types of students have you worked with?
I tutor 2nd-12th grades and beyond and with a tremendous variety of reading abilities and needs.
