Beautiful Beginnings Reading Tutor
About
Reading is a beautiful and lasting discovery that grants our young ones success and creativity.
The introduction to reading can be fun and enjoyable. My goal is to ignite a spark that encourages lifelong reading for happiness, enjoyment and everything in between.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Education with a Concentration in Special Education from Purdue Fort Wayne.
My teaching philosophy centers around a quote from the late Albert Einstein, ”Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life, believing that it is stupid.”
Education SHOULD be personalized. It is when we unlock those unique learning abilities that we break down knowledge for all to behold.
My goal is to break down the negative stigma associated with learning and knowledge. Too many children dread school or develop learning anxieties from how our systems are structured.
Learning is fun and should be embraced positively throughout our entire lives. ”Light bulb” moments and the thirst for continual knowledge motivates me to work with our youngest learners who need a patient, personalised introduction into the learning realm.
*Currently a kindergarten teacher for FWCS. I use Reading of Science strategies to teach young readers the skills they need to become successful readers.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step of my process is figuring out current understandings, as well as the child's interests. Trust is a foundation of learning, and lessons are often better received when they center around interests and learning strengths.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a ”why” child. I asked questions about everything and never settled for ”just because” responses. After years of struggle and hatred for learning, I met a professor who broke down my learning anxieties and explained that we should be ASKING why, and our teachers should be ANSWERING. Since then, I've wanted to shine a light on learning for others by providing multiple strategies and answers to how learning processes work.
