As a veteran math teacher, I have seen students at all levels of development, from middle school to college prep to adult education. Years of classroom instruction and one-on-one tutoring have prepared me to deal with the challenges of learning (or re-learning) math. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will do an intake session to measure the student's background and goals. I will collect information and provide a comprehensive achievement-type assessment that will help me gauge an appropriate starting point for tutoring. If the student has a particular area of study or specific type of preparation, that will help establish an effective starting point.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.S. in Education from Manchester College, North Manchester, Indiana.
M.S. in School Administration from Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne.
32 years of classroom experience at the high school level in public, college prep, and parochial school settings.
5 years of classroom experience at Trine University @ Fort Wayne.
Professional certification in Indiana and Florida.
