Hello there! I am located in Goshen, IN, but I'm more than happy to tutor online for any location.
I am a licensed English Language Arts teacher for grades 5-12, and I completed my Bachelor's at Anderson University. I have five years of teaching experience in secondary education. During that time, I've taught a wide variety of classes:
- 7th grade study skills
- 7th and 8th grade literature
- 9th grade speech
- 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grade English
- 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grade Literature
- 11th and 12th grade College and Career Readiness
- Literature on Film (elective)
It brings me joy to see students grow, and I'm a big advocate for starting with what students know and building from there in manageable, not stressful, steps. (Middle school and high school are stressful enough, right?!) I always try to begin by getting to know students' personalities because those unique traits impact how we learn best. I also encourage students to reflect on their personal goals so that we can work as a team to reach them (and celebrate when we do!).
More than anything, I hope to encourage students to develop confidence and fluency in reading, writing, grammar, media literacy, and public speaking. This is how we communicate with ourselves and the world around us, and I want students to move forward in that with excitement!
