About
I enjoy teaching students to improve their math and writing skills. I'm a Certified Public Accountant, with an MBA in Finance and Marketing from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.S. in Business and Accounting from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. I have scored 5th grade math tests and 9th grade Writing Tests during the past 6 years. Previously, I held a variety of accounting and administrative positions which used my math and writing skills. I have taught many people how to use Excel spreadsheets.
I know some shortcuts that can help students solve math problems quickly and would love to teach them. In addition, all of my employers have commented on my excellent writing skills. I have tutored fellow students in the past -- by helping them understand math concepts or by editing their papers for grammar and vocabulary improvements.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will introduce myself and establish a rapport with the student, then assess what they need to learn by looking at samples of their work.

How did you get started teaching?
In college, some of my friends would ask me to review their papers before submitting them. I was happy to help, free of charge. Sometimes, classmates would ask me to help them understand a mathematical concept and I would gladly explain it. I have been told by many people that I have excellent writing skills and I've always excelled at Math. I would like to share my expertise with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with college students, but I am interested in working with younger students as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a wonderful time at the opera last Sunday. The Lyric Opera staged Macbeth at the Civic Opera House in Chicago. This was the first professional opera I ever attended, and it was magnificent. The conductor, Enrique Mazzola, is in his inaugural season. The setting was a church, modified with lighting and furniture changes for the various scenes of Shakespeare's play. I don't understand Italian, but that was not a problem because English translations of the lyrics appeared above the stage. While watching the opera, I forgot about everything and simply enjoyed the music, singing, and acting. Everyone involved in this production loves their job, and deserved the standing ovations they received. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, and hope to see another opera soon.
