Effective English Language Tutoring
About
I am a qualified (Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and many years of experience as an English language teacher who knows how difficult it can be to learn another language. Many people will tell you that learning English is easy but the reality is that sometimes it is not. Much depends on your motivation. It is my job to help you the most when you feel discouraged. Focus on the benefits of being able to relate to others at work, school, or in public. We can work together to reach your English language goals.
I do not teach on Saturdays or Sundays, only weekdays.
I enjoy watching others develop and see them use the English language skills they need. I want to see a smile on each person's face that I teach.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student is unique so I am flexible in how I go about working with each person. I do need to find out details of what my students want to learn. I can do this directly or indirectly. I also need to know the student's current level of English so that I can teach just beyond what they are able to do at the moment. I may ask them to tell me about themselves or have them ask me questions about myself. I could also ask them to read something to me, either something I provide or that they would like to read. After we agree on some goals and resources for teaching and learning, we can begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two master's degrees: one in adult education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the other one in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the School for International Training (SIT). I have taught English for many years, both in the USA and abroad. I understand the teaching and learning process and am skilled in using a variety of ways to keep the learning process effective and interesting.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My prices range from $25-$30 depending on several factors:
1. time of day: high-demand hours cost more; low-demand hours cost less.
2. length of time for tutoring: the longer and more frequent, the cheaper the price.
3. discounts for telling your friends and acquaintances. $1 per hour discount for each friend that you successfully recruit.
