Hello! My name is Diana Juarez and I have decided to put what I call “talent” of speaking a second language to great use, by tutoring.
I graduated from the university of Wisconsin Parkside with an bachelors degree in Spanish and a minor degree in criminal justice in May 2018.
What makes my tutoring stand out is that Spanish is my native language in which I find it to be a plus ! I have worked, tutor, and mentor students through different organizations such as after school programs, Big Brothet Big Sisters, and study tables during my time in college.
The way I like to work with students is not just by sitting at a table taking notes. Real life experience along with practice is a must ! During these tough times I understand that we will have to adaopt in a new way of learning, it may take new initiaves, perpectives, and creatives way to get a lesson across...but not IMPOSSIBLE! I believe everyone is capable of becoming better, with patience and practice as student can improve their language skills to a different level and fully accomplish their goals.
What I love abut tutoring is seeing people grow, and learn about themselves while learning/improving a new skill.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know each other is a must! The way I intent to do so is to sit down and write 5 likes and 5 dislikes (as an ice breaker). Afterwards, I would like to learn how about the student habits of studying, note taking, retaining information, and what seems to be the problem. I believe once we identify the student’s “isssue” coming up with a game plan would be the next step.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am originally from Wisconsin, and I was able to to work at St. Mark Outreach Center. One of the main task was to review projects, letters grammar. I would often also translate documents from one language to the second. Lastly, I was trained by my supervisor on how to work with people whom has language barriers.
