I am passionate about spreading language and helping people connect through conversation. I have been tutoring for the past year through my college. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To start working with a new student, I first like to ask questions about what they know and why they want help learning more. This is a great way for me to see what level you are at and how we can best build from it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Spanish major at the University of Northern Iowa and have been tutoring in Spanish this past year.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing for my lessons will be around $10-$15 an hour depending on length.
How did you get started teaching?
I starting teaching through programs at my college. We have a program to help high school students in the surrounding area and I was asked to tutor for them.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high school students in tutoring before but also have experience with elementary and middle school aged students. I would be comfortable teaching any age open to learning!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise to be very clear on what they need to learn. As a teacher, it is difficult to know exactly what you need from us. We love to hear your feedback from lessons and ideas on how to improve for you.
