Math, Statistics And Science Tutor Milena Sovic (certified Substitute Teacher)
About
Both of my parents are engineers and excellent mathematicians and I inherit passion for STEM subject from them. Mathematics is a subject that I have thoroughly enjoyed throughout my school years. In elementary, mid and high school I participated in math competitions as well as in physics and chemistry competitions (in my country kids learn physics and chemistry from sixth grade). I finished High school for mathematics and informatics which is very selective and hard (all my subject were AP, from 9th through 12th grade). I truly enjoyed being there because the challenge of thinking and the process of logic always attract me to mathematical problems, however difficult and regardless of the form in which they come. During my first year in high school I have come to realise the importance of mathematics in everyday life, a base to so many subject areas such as physics and engineering. I finished two colleges, College of applied technical sciences (my major was civil engineering) and College for industrial management (major industrial engineering). There I had a chance to apply my math knowledge in engineering and economics as well as in industry. The college paid my tuition all 3 years because I was excellent student. I got my Masters degree at Faculty of mechanical engineering (I was strait A student). After finishing College of applied sciences I started working as a private tutor and I have been doing that for 18 years now (in three countries and two continents). My 'specialties' are Math, Descriptive geometry, Mechanics, Auto Cad, and Physics. I truly feel that tutoring and teaching is my dream job. I like working with kids and adults and help them achieve their goals. I see their success as my own. I try to 'adapt' to each student and to 'personalize' my teaching to each and every student. In my opinion parents play important role in my relationship with students so I like to discuss with them from time to time about student's improvement and ways to achieve their set goals. I am available 24/7 for my students and they can reach me any time if there is any kind of emergency. My hobbies are Interior design and I enjoy drawing in Auto Cad and Sketch Up.
I have outstanding SAT score (800 for math subtest) and SAT math subject tests 1 & 2 (perfect score).
I like being surrounded by kids and young people. I like seeing them achiving their goals and becoming successfull people. The most I like is that I am a part of it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet students, I let them tell me all problems and issues that they have with Math, then I usually give them a short test or observe them doing their homework or some math problems from the school. Then we make a plan how are we going to achieve their goals and get the highest possible grade.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have no pricing system. We can negotiate after first session. If you decide that you want to hire me three times a week, if I tutor more then one kid from your family or you recommend me to othter students, I will give you lower price.
How did you get started teaching?
I started in my elementary school with my friends from the class. I didn't charge them, of course, but I saw that I have a great talent to explain math to others. My professional career started in a college, and continued throuh university.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have been working with elementary and high school students, and college students as well.
