About

I am a homeschool mom that has talent and interest in assisting young children with writing and ELA. Proper use of language is one of the most important things you can give to your children, it is literally the audible way to navigate our ever-changing world. When you have confident and well-refined speech, people are drawn to speak to you!

In addition, I would be interested in assisting with Saxon Math upto 8/7 (which I've taught to my own children multiple times- I have 9!)

I love ensuring that no matter what I'm teaching, the most important thing, to me, is to retain the love of learning. This can be done by getting to know the child and discovering which learning methods work best for them! Of course, my absolute favorite is a struggling child conquering a new skill!

Frequently asked questions

First, you must build rapport with your student. Reservations in writing, speech, and language sometimes catch children up and they become uncomfortable receiving further instruction. It's easy to establish a friendship with a child and right their mind that you care about them, and their future successes, and you are there to ensure that they succeed at which ever aspect you are hoping to teach.

Second, I would assess the children's strengths and weaknesses. Do they enjoy letters? Do they understand sentence structure?

Finally, we would write up a goal plan with the child and their parents to determine what type of skills are most important to the family.

I'm a veteran home school mom, the "homeworker helper" aunt, and a natural born leader. I've been working with children since I was 15, whether as a camp leader, a helper, a tutor, now a mom- 17 years 😀
$30 an hr, always willing to discuss if there's a special situation and a genuine need.
I didn't necessarily intend on teaching at all, I was just always paired with children, because I've always been responsible and able to lead while still having fun. I genuinely enjoy watching kids grasp a concept that they thought they wouldn't. I've been in various child leadership roles, but my favorite has been a home school momma for 13 years.
Special needs kiddos, hyper/super active kiddos, reserved/shy kids, highly intelligent kiddos, I've ran the gambit.
Last week we had the first warm day, which is a big deal in the Midwest. I took my 4 littles to Randall Oaks Zoo, in West Dundee. We had such a great time seeing the different animals and the kids especially loved all the mommas and their big bellies. It was just a happy time after such a long, dreary, winter.
If you're struggling with a specific subject, don't give it. Find something about that subject that is valuable to you, so you have some "skin in the game" (or a motive to improve your performance). Set little goals and deadlines for yourself to accomplish, and don't get stuck in one mind set. Remember that learning can be fun, if handled correctly.
All of them! Students nowadays sometimes underestimate themselves, especially with the hurried environment of a public school classroom. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help, but definitely exhaust your options and poke around and explore. You're never to old to be curious, to learn, grow, tinker with things, and ask questions!
