About
Hello parents! My name is Ms. K and I am a reading specialist as well as an 8th grade language arts teacher. I have over 10 years experience and 8 years in the classroom.
Working one-on-one is my speciality, as my M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction has prepared me to make accommodations based on each individual student’s unique needs. I am passionate, vivacious, and dedicated to my craft.
I know you have many options to consider, but allowing me to collaborate with your child will grow their confidence, exceed your expectations, and render academic achievement.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on the students immediate needs, this could include a short interview about their interests and hobbies, but typically I prefer to assign an enjoyable "Get to Know Me" project. These finding will help me gauge the student's unique learning style, and makes for a great way to break the ice!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a full-time, employed teacher during the day, but it brings me great joy to provide the talents I acquired during my Master's degree program at LSU-Shreveport to individual learners in need of an extra "boost" after school hours. I am well-versed in the content of Curriculum and Instruction (with my concentration being in Reading/Literacy), and I truly enjoy sharing this knowledge with struggling learners, for we all need help sometimes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes; typically I quote between $40-50 depending on the age, travel, etc. I also have sliding scale options and a discount for groups of 2 or more available.
How did you get started teaching?
From a young age-recall in 7th grade I started to vocalize- I've always loved talking about learning, so why not make my passion a career?
