About
My business? My teaching career.
Teaching was my second career. I was a biology major in college and went on to become a laboratory scientist. When my youngest child could plug in a crock pot, I returned to university studies and became a science teacher.
I am a secondary teacher which means that I taught 6-12th grade.
I taught methods of teaching at a graduate school program for 5 years
Assistant director of an alternative teachers certification program.
My strengths are that I have a working knowledge of science. More importantly, my business has always stood out from others because I genuinely always loved doing it.
I am my best me, I found out, when I am with students.
I have a masters degree in teaching science education with an endorsement in middle school.
Recently retired but still active.
My preference, although I CAN teach biology well, would be to teach LA or reading.
I would like to tutor in:
ELA
Social studies
earth science
READING !
My reason for wanting to teach reading instead of science is that in my last years of teaching, I had a difficult time teaching because my students were not properly taught to read. Made teaching science concepts almost impossible.
My last feelings when I retired were that a love of reading is the basic ingredient for success. It has to be love of reading and a love of books. Love of learning comes after that.
There is great joy for any teacher who sees their students succeed.
I want to teach you to enjoy, like, love, become obsessed with reading. Everything else falls into place after this happens.
