Comprehension By Design

Comprehension by Design provides patient, customized tutoring for students and adult learners who need extra support with ESL, diverse learning, basic reading and writing skills, reading comprehension, test-taking strategies, and time management.

With 22 years of experience as a special education teacher and 4 years of experience in adult learning and ESL, I understand that every learner processes information differently. My teaching style is calm, supportive, and structured. I use visual comprehension, positive reinforcement, step-by-step instruction, and personalized lessons to help each student build skills with confidence.

Services are designed to support learners who may struggle to understand what they read, organize their thoughts in writing, prepare for reading tests, manage assignments, or improve everyday English skills. The goal of Comprehension by Design is to make learning clearer, less stressful, and more achievable, one skill at a time.
