Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically first go through a few practice problems that the student requires help on, or are covering through their schoolwork. Then, with a better grasp of what they're learning, begin targeting weaker or developing points in their understanding before elevating towards more difficult problems to enhance their understanding.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a high school graduate, which means that I have very recent experience in a lot of subjects that students struggle with. With that said, I also offer a breadth of knowledge over various subjects just because I have recently gone through the education system, offering a unique and personal perspective to the student's daily encounters.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge 25$ an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching through a position as a TA at my local Chinese School, teaching Chinese to a group of pre-elementary kids. In high school, I constantly volunteered in my school's multiple resource centers where students would go if they needed help with various subject matters. Over time, I adopted more tangible and concrete roles in teaching to elevate myself to my position now.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students that were 4-year olds, to 18-year olds in high school, all with a wide variety of learning styles and competencies.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The current pandemic is certainly a sorrow event we are bearing, but before this outbreak, I was planning on entering the public health field -- specifically regarding infectious disease and epidemiology, so a silver lining to this outbreak is providing a unique insight into my future career.
