Chemistry Tutoring

My teaching approach is to break down challenging problems to solve them in a step-wise manner. To do this, I use my iPad (sharing screen) during tutoring sessions while I guide students through problems by asking questions along the way, as we work towards the solution(s). It is helpful for students to share materials beforehand so I can effectively prepare for the session and so that it can be as efficient and productive as possible.

I currently work in a laboratory as an analytical chemist and have a passion for helping students tackle chemistry problems. I have a master's degree in analytical chemistry from Iowa State University where I was a teaching assistant for general chemistry (both semesters), instrumental analysis (class and lab) and physical chemistry lab. This experience has taught me how to effectively work with students and help them understand chemistry concepts so they can tackle problems independently on quizzes, exams, etc.
