Tutoring
About
Detail-oriented professional with 7.5+ years of experience in education and a proven knowledge of art, social work, literature, writing, and sociology/psychology. I am currently working on my BA in Sociology and have presented at the 2018 Iowa Sociological Association (ISA) Annual Meeting.
I am planning to get my Master's in Social Work, and have been accepted to an accredited program.
I enjoy helping students broaden their educational horizons and reach their highest potentials. I understand that when a subject is boring or frustrating, it makes it hard to enjoy. I use an individual-based approach in my tutoring to make sure that you both learn what you need and enjoy the subject.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by seeing what the student's needs are, what they already understand and what they are struggling with. Then I address the areas that need help, while checking in along the way to make sure the student is not overwhelmed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as an educational assistant for almost 8 years as of 2020. My professional work has been Pre-K through 8th grade, but I have tutored students through to University level.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally charge $12/hr, but am willing to negotiate under special circumstances
